The lost foam patterns was invented in 1958 by an American H.F.shroyer, which was based on the physical characteristics of expandable foam. With this method, the foam does not have to be removed after molding. After pouring in the liquid metal, the polystyrene is molecularly cracked at high temperature, to allow the space to be filled with molten metal, and the crusher wear part is formed after solidification.
Actually, the lost foam tech is exactly what we are using, in molding process in our factory(Lieb Heavy). Compared to precious wooden patterns, lost foam patterns are prone to improve the efficiency of our molding process.
